After recent firings I’d taken photos of most of my favorite pots outside against the shed wall, but hadn’t really taken the time to take photos to use for show applications and promotional materials. Yesterday, was a gorgeous sunny day so I used the opportunity to take out the photo cube and take some better pictures of recent works.
This cup was my favorite piece from the last firing. The inside is glazed with a shino (can’t remember which of the several shinos I’ve got) and the outside is Shaner Oribe. After dipping the outside in the glaze, I drew my finger down the side to create the stripes. I love how the stripes turned out.
Sometimes I can spend a great deal of time waxing stripes and creating fine details only to find out that the simplest method brings me the best results.
Here are a few more of the pictures I took yesterday.
Gorgeous! Love it…
those finger wipes are sweet. Nice looking pots, I bet you are pleased.
I love the finger swipes, you're right, sometimes simple is the best. It looks like we are making very similar looking soap dishes, how fun.
@ Lori – I used to make them similar from a slab with feet, but really prefer to do wheel work and really liked the soap dishes Keith Phillips was making so this was my next version. Who knows where they'll go from there, but I enjoy making this version. Thanks.
